Teaching

While we are not officially a co-op we do depend on parent’s teaching. Teachers get paid for their time allowing for only those who it is their season to teach to do so. So often, co-ops assign the next warm body to the open spot, we strive to not do that.

So you think you may want to teach- -we ask that you find a subject that you are passionate about, whether it is where your training lies or not.

When submitting a class idea– here are somethings to keep in mind–

  • your children need to be with us for a year– so you can get to know us and vise versa.
  • courses are for the full year–30 weeks
  • you need to be a follower of Jesus Christ– agree with our statement of faith
  • you need to teach from a Christian Worldview
  • teaching even once a week can be challenging- make sure you pick a subject you are passionate about and want to wade into deeper.
  • we hope to inspire children to learn, we do not have a punitive approach to courses. (if you want to get someone excited about a subject – submit your idea– if you want to prove how little these kids know– move on, we are not a good fit for you.)
  • the pay is small
  • we do not test in the classroom
  • you pick and purchase your curriculum– I am happy to look at it -making sure it agrees with a Christian Worldview and the direction of your class — just as a confirmation for you.
  • Priority will be given to teachers whose children attend TRLT.

IF you are agreeable to all these things — submit your request to me via email only one submission per page please. please put the class title in the subject line.

Include the following

  • your name
  • the grade level(s) you wish to teach
  • course name– straight forward is best
  • course description– this will used on the website — it is how parents select the course they want their children to take– this is your commercial– spend some time on it–
  • curriculum choice — include the edition and author
  • what hour work best for you
  • a syllabus for each class is due by July 31- please be thorough so students can proceed with work if they have to miss school. It needs to have more info not less.
  • submission due January 17, 2021
  • we start planning in January for the next year — so start thinking now.

Submission of class request is not a guarantee you will get this class–I consider space, repetition, and how a similar class was received in the past– I will communicate with you if your class will not be offered- and we may tweak a bit.

We are, planning to be meeting a different church for the next school year — we will have more room and opportunity for more courses and space for more active courses and more electives. I am super excited about this, while Faith Alliance has been a wonderful home for us the last 3 years, it is time to grow and stretch a bit.

With that in mind- please if you have an art or hobby that you love- please sign up.– I am considering putting together a 5 part 6 week hobbies class– so if you could share for 6 weeks please let me know– middle school and high school levels.

Be creative– think out of the box– and submit

Request due by 1/31!

Children are born with all the curiosity they will ever need.

It will last a lifetime if they are fed upon a daily diet of ideas .
