Preschool 3-4 years old

This is a two hour class. We will learn together with new friends and have fun! – We use parts of the Home Grown Preschooler curriculum and approach learning through playing games, singing songs, and exploring God’s creation. We also discuss letters, numbers, and memorize scripture as we try new things together like tea parties during snack time! We encourage the children to tell stories to their family members to be recorded in their own personal journal as their homework. *Must be potty trained*

Supplies needed for the class: glue stick, colored pencils, a pocket folder and a bag to carry work home.

Kindergarten 4-5 years old

This class is three hours and attending all three are required. Together, we will learn letter sounds, Bible verses, songs, calendar and weather and so much more. We will do hands-on science experiments, read amazing literature and improve our math skills. We will have snack and play outside too. There may be some homework from time to time, such as data collecting and reading. *Must be potty trained*

First Grade

This class is for three hours and attending all three are required. First grade will be full of so much fun and learning! Each class will have a book for that day and our learning activities will be focused around our book. Not only will we be learning exciting, new things academically, but also learn how to work together with great social skills. I can’t wait to spend time with first grade! It would be greatly appreciated that each semester, families provide a $15 fee to help offset supply costs.

History Makers 1^st-3^rd Grade

Let’s have so much fun learning about historical events and people! There are so many things to learn about and this lower elementary aged level class is just where we will accomplish this. This will be a hands on, interactive class to make learning even more exciting! Students will need a pencil, 1 inch binder, and folder to carry papers to and from school. Class fee will be $10 each semester please. There is not a set curriculum as I will be creating it to best fit the class. I can’t wait!

LEGO Builders 3rd grade and up

Let’s get together and build! In this group, we will explore various building techniques, brainstorm original designs, and work together to bring fun ideas to life. Some potential themes include a city street, a carnival, a fairy-tale story, or a nativity scene. Beyond building with LEGO, my goal is to encourage the students to build one another up as well.

More Experiments! 2^nd to 5^th Grade

Does your child love science experiments and activities? Do you love the idea of your child doing science activities weekly, but hate the thought of having to track down/buy all the supplies and cleaning up the mess? If you answered yes to one or both of those questions, this is the class your child should take! “What if my child took Let’s Experiment already?, you ask. That’s okay! We will be doing all new experiments (unless we have requests to repeat a few favorites), so if your child wants more experiments they can have them!

Math Games 2^nd-5^th Grade

This class is designed to reinforce your child’s math skills through various games and activities. We will incorporate addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We will also touch on graphing, simple fractions, money, and measurement. Bottom line, we have fun while growing our math skills and confidence. All supplies are provided by the teacher/co-op.

We will play games, sports, and learn how to play with our teammates. Games and sports such as chase, kickball, basketball, football, dodgeball. Students will also learn how to warm up before participating in activities.

Team Building with Creative Play Grades 2^nd-5^th

Come play with us! This class will be focused on team building through games, playdoh, puzzles and other fun creative ideas. We will learn about taking turns, sharing, counting, working together and most importantly, having FUN!

Elementary American Sign Language (ASL) Level “B”

Grade Level: Able to read – 7th

Students will learn more basic vocabulary and concepts of ASL. After several weeks reviewing, we will then expound on skills already learned in the level “A” class. Classes will be a combination of topical in nature (like level “A”) and conversational. I will give basic information on Deaf culture and History. Classes are meant to be fun including some games or activities for reinforcement. Curriculum: Teacher Generated, no purchase needed. Specific YouTube videos correlating with class lessons will be chosen by teacher for practice at home. Teacher will email these specific links to parent.

American Girl 3^rd-6^th

This class we will read, craft and eat in the culture and era of American Girl books. This class is hands on and requires reading outside of class. American Girl is also craft heavy and has a high supply fee. We learn long forgotten skills and try various foods. This year’s book series (6 books for each girl) will be Kaya, Kirsten, Samantha, and Kit.

Story of the World 2   3^rd-7^th Grade

This amazing series unfolds history through the Middle Ages with interesting dialogue and stories so one understands and remembers. The beauty of this curriculum is that it is set for multiple grade levels so dinner conversations can be about knights and samurai. Reading will be required at home and followed up by classroom discussion, mapping, and hands on projects. The reader will be required text. (It is also available in audio). Join us as we cover the fall of Rome to the rise of the Renaissance.

Using a variety of types of writing (descriptive, narrative, persuasive, comparison, expository) to help become a well-rounded writer. A good writing foundation is helpful for this class. The goal of this class is to widen the writing experiences and prepare for higher thinking and grades. Supplies: folder, blue or red pen, pencil, highlighter, loose leaf paper.

Confident Writer in the Making     5^th-8^th Grade

Writing isn’t everyone’s favorite subject & can be difficult for some students. This class will help the reluctant writer gain some confidence in their writing. Who knows….they may end up falling in love with it. 🙂 Writing is a major part of learning. Students will spend time in free write and writing prompts. Also, lessons to help them improve their writing.

Intro to Biology       6^th-8^th Grade

In this class we will explore the world of living things through microscope observations, experiments, and a few dissections. We will cover a variety of topics such as the characteristics of life, cells, genetics, and ecosystems. There is no curriculum to purchase for this class.

Middle School Math 6-8th grade

This curriculum is designed to introduce new topics in small steps building concepts, and spreading them out over time. This will also provide continual review of concepts learned.  Each lesson begins with warm-ups for fact practice. Then introduces the new concept, moving on to lesson practice, and finally mixed practice exercises. The textbook is rather thick and could look intimidating but don’t worry. The goal is to get finished with it by the end of 30 weeks. However, my personal goal is to make sure your students learn the concepts, so we will likely have to alter the speed based upon the speed of the students.

Intro to Knitting        6^th grade and up

Beginner level knitting class, for anyone interesting in learning the basics of knitting with little to no prior experience. We will learn basics and grow our skills over the course of the year by creating projects to practice each new technique. We will learn how to follow and read patterns, and recognize and fix basic mistakes in our work as well.

Intermediate Knitting            7^th grade and up

This is a knitting class for students who have some basic experience with knitting and know how to cast on, knit, purl, and cast off. We will learn more advanced techniques in this class like cabling, knitting in the round, and reading more complex patterns. We will work on projects that students choose in order to practice these new skills, such as hats, gloves, socks, etc. Each student will be able to learn and progress at a pace that is comfortable to them. This is class is suitable for anyone who has some basic knitting experience and wants to learn more, even if they have taken Knitting 2 or are familiar with the skills mentioned here. There is always more to learn, and we will grow from where you are, adding new skills to your craft.

Flag Football                  6^th-12^th Grade

Come join us for some flag football fun! This class will focus on learning the rules of the game as well as skills such as throwing, catching, running routes, and playing together as a team.

Handicrafts                  7^th-10^th Grade

Charlotte Mason said that children “…should be able to make with his hands and should delight in making.” This year, we will take our time and learn crafts in the true sense of the word. Projects are not set in stone, but possibilities are: macrame, crochet, barn quilts, jewelry making, string art, and calligraphy. Along with a $15 fee, students will procure some of their own materials allowing them to continue the learned crafts on their own.

In this introductory course of American Sign Language student will learn topics including basic vocabulary, grammar, history, fingerspelling, numbers, terminology, and Deaf culture. Student will have fingerspelling, vocabulary/sentence comprehension quizzes, culture quizzes, and unit tests. There is a minimum of two required Deaf culture events worth 25% of student’s grade. Culture aspect is not only needed to meet the transcript requirement, it is a key ingredient to learning a foreign language! Suggested homework time estimated at one hour per day. Beyond Borders: Passport to Adventure       7^th-10^th Grade

Buckle up! We are going on a trip around the world! We will study geography, world history, religion, culture, key people, and current events as we explore all seven continents. World cuisine days will be part of the journey so be ready to dabble in foods from around the globe!

Consumer Math                    9^th-12^th Grade

Prepare your high school student for real-world financial decisions with this Christian homeschool curriculum that teaches personal finance through the lens of biblical stewardship. Consumer Math homeschool curriculum set equips teens in grades 9–12 to apply math skills to budgeting, saving, debt, taxes, housing, and career planning—developing financial literacy rooted in faith and practical life application. Although the text book is set up to accommodate students that have not yet had Algebra I, I do suggest this as a prerequisite.

Physical Science               8^th-10^th grade

Get ready to ignite your curiosity of matter, energy and all things Physical Science! In this class we will be diving into fields like physics, chemistry, astronomy, and earth science through lectures, research, and hands-on lab experiments. Physical Science requires foundational math skills. Knowledge of solving for variables in equations, scientific notation, managing fractions, basic unit conversions, and basic arithmetic are strongly recommended.

History of American Government                9^th-12^th Grade

Class will be instructed on information of how our government was formed and why. I will teach the class about the Constitution and why it so important to us as citizens. How our government is supposed to have a checks and balance system. We will have class instruction on how our government is devoted in protection of our individual rights as citizens. Will also discuss current events that we see on the nightly news. The class will have an understanding on how our government works and how important it is to be able to vote. Bring a notebook, loose paper, and pencil or pen.

High School Literature                 10^th to 12^th Grade

We will look at the influence of the Greeks and the use of their mythology throughout various works of literature in order to examine the foibles of mankind as seen through atrocities committed in the name of power and/or self-deception. We will read five major works, and I would like all students to have copies of all five (I can send you links later from amazon; took up too much space here to link it): 1) Antigone–Greek tragedy by Sophocles ($6.99 on Amazon) 2) Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare ($4.00 on Amazon), 3) Lord of the Flies by William Golding ($6.59 on Amazon), A Separate Peace by John Knowles ($9.89 on Amazon), and Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis ($9.71 on Amazon). We will not be following a curriculum but following the framework of these five major works of literature, and we will do some form of literary analyses for each work. Some may be timed writings done in class while others will be more formal MLA style, typed literary analyses (expectations will be explicitly displayed and process taught to students in order to scaffold their way up to independently constructing these). We will also do one big research paper during the school year, and we will move towards having productive Socratic Seminars in class. In addition, through our works of literature, we will work on such skills as comprehension; inference; comparison of literary works, literary analysis in terms of characterization, literary devices, syntax, dramatic conventions within Greek tragedies and Shakespearean plays etc. This will not be a course where grammar will be explicitly taught; however, each form of writing will be given feedback in regards to grammar as well as composition. Moreover, I will make copies of various Greek myths and short essays and poetry that thematically pair with each major work. I would expect students to have a designated binder or folder of some sort to have all materials for our class gathered in one place. Students will be expected to have something to write with and paper for class time. Highlighters of various colors might be helpful as well.

Dual Enrollment Chemistry 11^th-12^th Grade

Veritas Collective will be offering Mastering Chemistry for the 2026-2027 school year. This course is being offered to students with The Road Less Traveled. This full year sequence combines General Chemistry 1 and General Chemistry 2. These two 15 week semesters will include 150 minutes of in-person labs, live online class and office time per week. In person classes will be Mondays 10-12:30. This course will follow Ferrum College class schedule. These classes are dual enrollment with Ferrum College – 8 credit hours.

Please note this class meets longer than classes offered with The Road Less Traveled and follows a different calendar.

Cost is $425 and includes all materials, supplies and curriculum. ($400 due in August)
